MEREDITH, Maud. (Mrs. Dwight Smith). A local writer, Meredith started the Mid-Continent, a short-lived magazine, around 1873. She wrote prose and verse, edited departments in several newspapers, and published several novels for the firm of Donohue and Henneberry of Chicago.
