TRIESTER-MCLEAN LIQUOR SUIT. The first case of its kind filed in Dubuque County, the case began in June , 1874 when Mary Triester filed a suit in the circuit court of Dubuque. She claimed $5,000 in damages for injuries sustained in person, property and means of support caused by the intoxication of her husband from liquor sold to him by Edward and James McLean on South Dodge Street.
A change of venue was made to Delaware County and after a three day trial a verdict was rendered for $300.
