JAEGER, Francis. (Sageville, IA, July 18, 1842--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 7, 1912). Merchant. Jaeger was an organizer of the [[ELLWANGER, John|John ELLWANGER]] Company, D.C. Glasser Tobacco Company, and the Jaeger Kunnert Company. He was a director of the Dubuque [[HIGH BRIDGE]] Company.

Jaeger, the son of pioneers who had come to Dubuque from New Orleans, Louisiana, was counted among the early pioneers of Dubuque. He held a charter membership in the Dubuque Sharpshooters' Association and was a member of the [[OLD SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION]]. Jaeger was one of the first members of the [[SAINT MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH]] parish.
JAEGER, Francis. (Sageville, IA, July 18, 1842--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 7, 1912). Jaeger, one of the prominent business men of Dubuque, was associated with many of the principal industries of the city. He began work in the wholesale grocery business under the firm name of Brown & Jaeger. (1)
 
On the March 1, 1890, Jaeger organized the [[DUBUQUE WOODENWARE AND LUMBER COMPANY]], with a capital stock of $50,000. The officers were Francis Jaeger, President; Adam Truegel, Vice-President; and [[BREDE, Louis H.|Louis H. BREDE]], Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Jaeger continued as its president until March, 1894. At that time the capital stock was increased and new officers were elected, J. J. Dunn becoming President, while Louis Brede was made Secretary and Treasurer. The company was doing a large business and sold throughout Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arkansas. (2) He was a diretor of the [[DUBUQUE HIGH BRIDGE COMPANY]]. (3)
 
In 1891 Jaeger aided in the organization of the Turbine Roller Mill Company and was associated with it as a stockholder. He was also a stockholder in the [[IOWA TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK]], Key City Fire Insurance Company and the [[D. C. GLASSER TOBACCO CO.]] both of which he was one of the organizers. (4)
