GREENFIELD, Duaine Henry

GREENFIELD, Duaine Henry. (Rudd, IA, Dec. 8, 1929--Dubuque, IA, July 4, 2010). The son of Henry and Lena (Eden) Greenfield, Duaine graduated from West High in Waterloo in 1947. On Oct. 28, 1983, he married Jane (Redfearn) Timmerman in Hudson.

He began his working career as a glazier working for Standard Glass in Waterloo. Later he worked for The Nurrie Companies managing their glazing operations in Memphis, Tenn., Kansas City, Kan., and Dubuque. He later purchased the company today known as DUBUQUE GLASS COMPANY Duaine also owned and operated Dubuque Builders Exchange.

Always very active in his community, Greenfield was a member of Rockdale United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Kiwanis Club, Dubuque Home Builders Association, DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY 990 Club, Dubuque Yacht Club, Mid-Town Mariners, DUBUQUE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB, DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and Dubuque Main Street Association. He also served on the City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission.

Greenfield worked along with the City and Main Street Association, to revitalize the Lower Main District and renovated several properties. In 1996, he received an award from the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY for renovations to the building at 198 Main Street. The renovation of 190 Main St. received awards from Dubuque Main Street, Main Street Iowa Program and Iowa Historic Preservation Alliance.
