RAYMOND, George Newcomb. (Sherburn Falls, NY, May 12, 1833-Dubuque, IA, Feb. l0,1917).City recorder. Raymond came to Dubuque in 1859 and became one of the region's best-known wholesalers and retailers of crockery. In 1907 he retired and entered the insurance business in the firm of Coates and Robinson.
Raymond enjoyed enough public recognition to serve as city recorder. He was remembered as one of the city's most prominent members of the Masonic Lodge.
