STEINES, Mark. (Dubuque, IA, June 7, 1964-- ). Broadcaster and co-anchor of Entertainment Tonight. Steines joined the staff of Entertainment Tonight on August 24, 1995. He became the co-anchor in 2004 with duties including reporting general entertainment news, conducting celebrity interviews, and attending movie premieres as well as making on-set visits to feature films and television series.
Steines attended the University of Northern Iowa on a full football scholarship and graduated with a degree in RADIO and TELEVISION. His first job was at a Dubuque television station, KWWL-TV. He worked as an intern, sports reporter, and then reporter before moving to KSPR-TV in Springfield, MO, as a sports anchor from 1988 - 1991. From 1992 - 1995 he worked as a sports reporter at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. This brought him assignments for ESPN. Before becoming the co-anchor, Steines began work on Entertainment Tonight as a correspondent, substitute anchor, and anchor of Entertainment Tonight: Weekend.
His awards include a 1994 Emmy Award and 1994 Golden Mic Award for the KCAL special "Beyond Endurance." He received his second Emmy in 1995 for Beyond Endurance—Borneo.
