HEINEMANN, Eugene. (Stockholm, WI, 1926-Dubuque, IA, 1998). President, Dubuque Arboretum Association. Heinemann worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until 1983.  In 1980 with several other interested gardeners he started the [[DUBUQUE ARBORETUM AND BOTANICAL GARDENS]] on 52-acres of land. In 1986 Heinemann received an award from the Iowa Park and Recreation Association for his leadership in the Association and his nearly nine thousand hours of volunteer work between 1983, when he became president, and 1986.  In 1997 he received the [[FIRST CITIZEN AWARD]] from the [[TELEGRAPH HERALD]].
