GLAB, Adam. (Grand Duchy of Hess-Darmstadt, Germany, Nov. 17, 1828-Dubuque, IA, Nov. 26, 1880). Brewer. Glab came to Dubuque in 1852 and became a miner. In 1866 with $50,000 he constructed the NORTHERN BREWING COMPANY that he operated with his sons Nicholas, Alois, and Frank. Adam's brother was John GLAB.
In 1892 the Glab brewery along with several other small BREWERIES were merged as the DUBUQUE BREWING AND MALTING COMPANY. Nicholas was the company president and general manager.
