GERMAN TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK Organized on January 24, 1887, the bank was located on the northwest corner of 13th and Clay (Central). Officers of the bank in 1895 were Paul Traut, president; John Bell, vice-president; and J. M. Werner, cashier. Directors were Paul Traut, C. H. Berg, Nicholas GLAB, Peter KLAUER, Alphons MATTHEWS, A. Jaeger, and Anthony F. HEEB. The 1913 Dubuque and Dubuque County Directory stated that this business was located at 1301-1315 Clay.
After WORLD WAR I, German Trust and Savings Bank became part of the UNION TRUST AND SAVINGS BANK in a building on the southeast corner of 14th and Central. The bank was brought to ruin in January 1932 by a run on its deposits.
