ALTMAN, Theodore. (Duchy of Luxemburg, Mar. 23, 1833-Chicago, IL, June 30, 1939). Owner of the Harmony Hall and publisher. Altman immigrated to the United States in 1857 and came to Dubuque. He farmed until 1869.
Altman purchased the Harmony Hall, a hotel and one of Dubuque's most prominent buildings. He also served as an alderman for the Third Ward for three consecutive terms. He is remembered as founder of the LUXEMBOURG GAZETTE.
