FISCHER, Louis. (Byrne, Germany, 1837--Nov. 13, 1875). Businessman. Fischer came to Dubuque in 1856. When the [[CIVIL WAR]] broke out, he joined the Jackson Guards and fought in the battle of Wilson's Creek. In 1862, he entered the [[ICE]] business and was senior member of the firm of Fischer, Wheeler & Co.

Upon his death, Louis Fischer's business interests were carried on by his wife, Caroline FISCHER.
