BITTMAN, Charles W. (Rhine Folz, Bavaria, Germany, Jan. 8, 1822--Dubuque, IA, June 29, 1897). Bittman emigrated to the United States at the age of fifteen and lived in Cincinnati, St. Louis, New Orleans and California.
He came to Dubuque in 1854 and established the firm of BITTMAN AND SCHROEDER. In 1880 was one of the oldest merchants in the city. Bittman served in 1880 as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Linwood Cemetery Association. (1)
