Delany served on the finance committee of NATIVITY CHURCH for many years and was a member of the DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY and the Businessmens' Association. He was a member of the Dubuque County Park Commission and was a charter member of the WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL board of trustees.
