LINDSAY, J. R. (Canada--Chicago, IL, May 12, 1936) Coming to Dubuque as a young man, Lindsay became a clerk in the law offices of Henderson, Hurd and Daniels. He studied law as he worked and joined the firm after passing his bar examinations. He later formed a partnership with J. P. FRANTZEN and Alphons L. MATTHEWS.

As a member of that firm, Lindsay became acquainted with Frank D. STOUT and became his private secretary. He continued in this position after Stout moved to Chicago. He also became the secretary of the UNION ELECTRIC COMPANY in which Stout owned a controlling interest.

In Dubuque, Lindsay was prominent in the MASONIC LODGE and was a charter member of the ELKS CLUB. He was also a charter member of the DUBUQUE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB.
