BOLEYN, William. (Sherrills Mound, IA, Dec. 1881--Dubuque, IA, June 21, 1975). Boleyn, for whom a road intersecting Peru Road was named, served as Dubuque County's first rural mail carrier. (1) He was also an early taxi driver. Shortly after WORLD WAR I, he invented a snowmobile which was half-motorcycle and half-sleigh.
When he moved into BETHANY HOME it was like coming home. Boleyn had been employed years earlier as a chauffeur by Christian LOETSCHER who owned the house. (2)
