RAYMOND, George Newcomb. (Sherburn Falls, NY, May 12, 1833--Dubuque, IA, Feb. l0, 1917). Raymond came to Dubuque in 1859 and became one of the region's best-known wholesalers and retailers of crockery. In 1907 he retired and entered the insurance business in the firm of COATES & ROBINSON.
Raymond enjoyed enough public recognition to be elected city recorder. He was remembered as one of the city's most prominent members of the Masonic Lodge.
