KEAS, Edward. (Dubuque, IA, Feb. 2, 1863--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 12, 1940). Baseball player. Keas took his mastery of the spitball, learned from [[RADBOURNE, Charles Gardner|Charles Gardner RADBOURNE]] while playing baseball in Dubuque, into the major leagues. In 1887 the St. Louis Browns signed him. Later in the year, Keas was traded to Kansas City where he played most of the following season.

In 1889 Keas was traded to Cleveland and later in the season to Milwaukee. Near the end of that season a leg injury ended his baseball career. A painter by trade, Keas returned to Dubuque where he thrilled local crowds with expert ice-skating.
