Lattner served ten years as the secretary of the Dubuque Bar Association and for many years was on the board of directors of the Dubuque [[YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION (Y.M.C.A.)]]  He was also a member and trustee of [[SAINT LUKE'S METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH]] and often represented the church at conferences.
