RYAN, Emmett. (Dubuque, IA, June 18, 1895--Dubuque, IA, Sept. 28, 1972). Ryan retired in 1958 after forty years of practicing dentistry in Dubuque. Civic minded, Ryan served as a member of the [[DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT]] Board of Education from 1941 to 1947 including a term as its president in 1942. RYAN, Emmett. (Dubuque, IA, June 18, 1895--Dubuque, IA, Sept. 28, 1972). Ryan retired in 1958 after forty years of practicing dentistry in Dubuque. Civic minded, Ryan served as a member of the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Board of Education from 1941 to 1947 including a term as its president in 1942. He served on the Dubuque Police and Fire Commission from 1921 to 1939 and as a member of the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY.
