ACME ART STORE. Established in 1890, the Acme Art Store in 1911 was owned and operated by Frederick Louis EGELHOF and Louis F. EGELHOF. The company supplied the area with a wide variety of art goods. It also manufactured mouldings and frames, burnt wood novelties and bass wood, souvenir postcards and albums, portraits and pictures, envelopes and folders. Artistic statuary was advertised along with photography supplies.
The 1903 Dubuque County Rural Route Directory through 1913 Dubuque and Dubuque County Directory stated that this business was located at 1032 Main.
The 1918 Dubuque Classified Business Directory through 1929 Dubuque City Directory listed the address as 466 Main.
The 1934 Dubuque City Directory listed 464 Main.
