VANCE, Janet. (Dubuque, IA- ). First woman in Iowa to be inducted into the Brotherhood of the Arrow ([[BOY SCOUTS]]). In 1989 Vance completed her twentieth year as a volunteer with Boy Scouts in Dubuque. In recognition of her efforts, she received the George Meany Award from the Dubuque Federation of Labor; the Commissioners Arrowhead, Silver Beaver, District Award for Merit; and St. George Award for service to the community, youth and scouting from the Scouts.
