Merwyn was a Boy Scout leader for over 40 years and proud that he had over 80 Eagle scouts in that time period. He received two scouting awards for service, the Silver Beaver and the St. George Awards. He was also a Master Gardener and did volunteer work for the Iowa State | Ellis started his appliance service career as service manager at Montgomery Ward in the 1950S. He founded Ellis House Service which specialized in appliance repair and parts for major appliances. Merwyn and his sons Bob and Bill opened Appliances Unlimited in 1972. ELLIS, Merwyn R. (Dubuque, IA, July 8, 1924--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 30, 2018) The son of Glenn V. and Cecelia M. (Pauly) Ellis, Merwyn graduated from DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in 1942. On June 18, 1946, he married Bette J. Paisley at HOLY GHOST CATHOLIC CHURCH.
Ellis started his appliance service career as service manager at Montgomery Ward in the 1950S. He founded Ellis House Service which specialized in appliance repair and parts for major appliances.
