WALSH, John. (Dubuque, IA- ) | WALSH, John. (Dubuque, IA- ). Walsh was' elected to the Iowa Senate in 1966. In 1967, as one of the organizers of Iowa Lends a Hand, a project to help the people of South Vietnam, he spent fifteen in that country. Walsh met with both civilian and military leaders to insure delivery of material manufactured in Iowa to help the Vietnamese rebuild their homes and villages. He hope the collection of hammers, shovels, paint, school supplies,sewing kits, and money made in each Iowa county would help bring an earlier end to the [[VIETNAM WAR]]. He worked actively to secure Amtrak service to Dubuque and participated in the transportation task force of the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce.
