Fleege, Urban. (Dubuque, IA-- ). U.S. State Department official. In 1951, Fleege, an educator with a doctor of philosophy degree from the Catholic University of America, served as the chief of the State Department's Catholic Affairs section of the Educational and Cultural Affairs Divisioin. A graduate of LORAS COLLEGE, he was former chairman of the department of education at Catholic University, dean of the State University of New Mexico, director of the guidance clinic at Marquette University and editor of the Catholic Educational Review. Fleege described his responsibilities in 1951 as working with German churches to advance political forces in Germany which supported the formation of a democratic society.
