CHASE, Mike. (Des Moines, IA, Sept. 15, 1938-- ). Chase earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Iowa State University. He went to work for INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY in Dubuque and other cities as the company produced power plants.
In 1991 he became vice president of power production and was named executive vice president in 1995. He became the president of the company in October 1996 and added the title of chief executive officer on January 1, 1997. He made responsibility not only for the company's operations but merger with IES Utilities of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and WPL Holdings Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin to form Interstate Energy Corporation. This had been announced in 1995.
