SUMMIT HOUSE. Located at the western terminus of the HILL STREET AND WEST DUBUQUE STEAM RAILWAY COMPANY, the Summit House opened for business on February 16, 1878. (1)
In February 1880, the hotel was listed for sale by Solon LANGWORTHY. The building was described as being 44' x 44', three-stories high, "situated commandingly and supplied with all modern improvements." Located at the head of Julien Avenue, it "would make country store, hotel, or boarding house." (2)
