GLAB, Adam. (Grand Duchy of Hess-Darmstadt, Germany, Nov. 17, 1828-Dubuque, IA, Nov. 26, 1880). In 1851, Glab married Miss Kathrina Wemer, from Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany.  Glab came to Dubuque in 1852 and began mining and operated a hotel called the Bull's Head near the future site of the fairgrounds in West Dubuque. (1).

In 1892 the GLAB BREWERY along with several other BREWERIES were merged as the DUBUQUE BREWING AND MALTING COMPANY. Nicholas GLAB was the company president and general manager.
