GEHRIG, Andrew. (Wallenstadt, Switzerland, Feb. 7, 1826--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 12, 1912). Gehrig learned the tailor's trade in Switzerland before emigrating to the United States in 1855. He came to Dubuque on May 19, 1855 and worked for other tailors until 1867 when he opened his own business. In 1851, he married Dorothea Boul, a native of Switzerland; they had seven children.
