JUNKERMANN, Karl Frederick "Otto." (Germany, Aug. 12, 1825--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 5, 1883). Junkermann came to Dubuque in 1854. In 1855 with Julius W. HAAS, he established JUNKERMANN & HAAS one of the most profitable wholesale drug outlets in the city.
Junkermann is perhaps best remembered for the lands he purchased along the bluffs of the MISSISSIPPI RIVER south of the city. This site eventually became the E. B. LYONS INTERPRETATIVE CENTER.
