JOHN BELL.  John Bell was born in Scotland on December 15, 1827 and emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1844.  He moved to Dubuque in 1853. He established himself as a carpenter and worked on many local buildings for the next thirty years.

JOHN BELL. John Bell was born in Scotland on December 15, 1827 and emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1844. He moved to Dubuque in 1853, established himself as a carpenter, and worked on many local buildings for the next thirty years.

The 1868-69 and 1880 Dubuque City Directory gave the address as the east side of Locust between 9th and 10th.

The 1886-87 Dubuque City Directory listed a shop at the back of the LORIMIER HOUSE.

The 1890-91 Dubuque City Directory listed 174 Wilson.
