In 1857 Glab experienced success in mining. He used the money in 1866 to establish a brickyard and the NORTHERN BREWING COMPANY that he operated with his sons Nicholas, Alois, and Frank. Adam's brother was John GLAB.
In 1892 the GLAB BREWERY along with several other BREWERIES were merged as the DUBUQUE BREWING AND MALTING COMPANY. Nicholas was the company president and general manager.
