High birth rates in Dubuque were hardly a rarity, but one location in the early 1950s was given, at least by residents, a special nickname due to the many children. "Incubator Hill," an area around Air Hill, Wilson, and Caledonia had the designation due to the many children. At one time, a home in the area had nine children, but only ranked #3."
