	YATE'S ISLAND. Located opposite [[LAKE PEOSTA]], the island, also called the Thomas Yates Island, was developed by the [[GERMANIA BAND]] in May 1876 into an entertainment center for the summer. (1) The steamer ''Dorchester'' with a barge capable of carrying 75 people was chartered to transport people on Sunday between the island and the foot of 7th Street with the round trip costing ten cents. Boat rides began at 8:00 a.m. and operated every half hour. (2)		YATE'S ISLAND.
