New page

WATCH D.O.G.S. In October, 2009 an innovative program for the involvement of fathers in the education of their children was begun at [[HOOVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL]]. WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) offered fathers the opportunity of spending part or an entire day at school with their son or daughter. Fathers could be involved with small groups of students as an aide to the teacher. Hoover was the first school in the [[DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT]] and the state of Iowa to offer the program.

The program was brought to the staff of Hoover by Greg Craighead who moved to the community with [[IBM]] from Austin, Texas where the program had been offered.
