	A graduate of [[LORAS COLLEGE]], Tollari began teaching physical science, biology, earth science and chemistry at [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] in 1969. As a teacher advocate, he served as president of the [[DUBUQUE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION]] in 1975 and was active in teacher rights and political action. 	Tollari served two and one-half terms as president of the JDC UniServ Unit, six years as a member of the Iowa State Education Association executive board, and in 1991 was president-elect of the local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. He also served locally as president and newsletter editor of the Audubon Society. He recorded between ten and twelve years as a member of the Central Committee of the Dubuque Democratic Party.		Tollari served two and one-half terms as president of the JDC UniServ Unit, six years as a member of the Iowa State Education Association executive board, and in 1991 was president-elect of the local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. He also served locally as president and newsletter editor of the Audubon Society. Tollari recorded between ten and twelve years as a member of the Central Committee of the Dubuque Democratic Party.

			In 2003 Tollari was named the Dubuque "Teacher of the Year." (1)
