SMITH HOME GALLERY AND CABINET WORKS. Founded in 1976, Ron Smith and Sons Construction Company worked on residential projects. The business expanded in 1999 with the purchase of shops on John Deere Road as their center for business. The company name at the time was changed to Smith Cabinet Works. (1)

Over a period of time, projects of the company increasingly focused on customization as well as home remodeling. Not wishing to let potential customers believe the company was limited to cabinetry, Smith Home Gallery was established to show the scope of the business. Projects ranged from one cabinet to entire rooms and houses. In 2011 the company worked within a ninety-mile radius of Dubuque. (2)

In 2010 Smith Home Gallery was located at 1075 Cedar Cross Road. Smith Cabinet Works was located at 17612 South John Deere Road. (3) In 2016 the company was in the process of moving its production facilities from three buildings on John Deere Road to Peosta, Iowa and a 36,000-square-foot building. The company, operated by three sons of the late Ronald Smith and Kimberly Tully, was then employing up to forty people. (4)
