The son of [[SCHMID, George Sr.|George SCHMID, Sr.]], Schmid obtained his formal education in Dubuque and then joined his father in the [[EAGLE VALLEY WORKS]] in which he served as manager and part owner.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Schmid was the owner of a half interest in the patents invented by his father. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In order to provide a good entrance to [[EAGLE POINT PARK]], Schmid donated to the city a tract of land. &lt;br /&gt;
