He retired from [[PEOPLES NATURAL GAS]] after thirty-one years and was a member of Gas Workers Local 402. He worked as a yardman for Ed and Joan Tschiggfrie for twenty-one years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for sixty years and the Northeast Iowa Boy Scouts Council for forty-two years. He served as Scoutmaster of Resurrection Troop 91 and was an Order of Arrow Vigil member and advisor.
