Pregler was also an active member in the Dubuque County Democratic Party and ran for Party Chair in 1967 and was nominated for chair in 1974. In both instances, Pregler did not garner enough votes to become chairman.  Pregler was inducted into the Dubuque County Democratic Party Hall of Fame along with his younger brother and former mayor of Dubuque, [[PREGLER, Walter A.|Walter A. PREGLER]] in 2007.  In attendance for the induction ceremonies were U.S. Senators Joe Biden (D-DE) and Christopher Dodd (D-CT).  Iowa Governor Chet Culver (D) was present to accept the induction into the Hall of Fame on behalf of his father John Culver.&lt;br /&gt;
