Dubuque&amp;#039;s first penthouse was a 12 x 12 foot structure constructed on the top of the [[LICORICE PRODUCTS COMPANY]] factory at Second and Iowa [[STREETS]]. Occupied by the company owner, [[ANDELFINGER, Martin B.|Martin B. ANDERFINGER]], it had a double door on either of the four sides and all were screened permitting a cooling breeze. The double floor has a top facing of oak with the entire house insulated with balsam wool. The roof was shingled.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The penthouse was equipped with electricity, running water, steam heat, and radio. All the furniture was metal. Entry was gained from the east side using a walk constructed through a skylight from the factory below.&lt;br /&gt;
