			The increased pressure against the LGBTQ+ community expanded. Anti-LGBTQ+ bills proposed in Iowa soared from 3 in 2018 to 34 in 2024 according to the American Civil Liberties Union. In 2023 Governor Kim Reynolds signed bills prohibiting gender-affirming care for trans-gender minor and banning transgender students from using school bathrooms that align with their gender identity.
