	LAGEN, Bernard. (Lancaster County, PA, Oct. 3, 1840-- ). Lagen's parents came Dubuque in 1848. He learned the trade of blacksmith and afterward worked in the livery business.		LAGEN, Bernard. (Lancaster County, PA, Oct. 3, 1840--Dubuque, IA, December 26, 1913). Lagen's parents came Dubuque in 1848 after living in St. Louis. He was educated in Dubuque schools and then lived on a farm until 1862. He learned the trade of being a blacksmith by 1865 and afterward worked in the livery business with his father. In the last years of his life he was in business with his son in the firm of B. Lagen and Son. (1)

	Lagen later established the city's first omnibus line running six horse-drawn vehicles to take people to their destinations.
