Koob, Clarence G. "Lefty." (Cedar Rapids, IA, 1906--Dubuque, IA,, 1970). Athlete, educator, coach. Koob attended [[COLUMBIA COLLEGE]] from 1924 to 1928 and lettered every year in football, basketball, and [[BASEBALL]]. He was the team captain in basketball and or class president for all four years of college.

From 1924 to 1925, Koob pitched professional baseball with the old Milwaukee Brewers. He later played with teams in Dubuque, Madison, and Rock Island from 1925 to 1927.

Koob began teaching physical education and coaching in Dubuque at Jefferson Junior High School (later [[JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL]]) in 1930. His first fifteen years of coaching football, basketball and track were without any financial compensation. He continued at Jefferson for thirty-two years and later taught elementary physical education and had administrative duties at [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] until his untimely death in 1970. Many considered his no-smoking and no-drinking philosophy an outstanding example.

Koob was elected to the Loras College Athletic Hall of Fame, Recognition of Excellence, in 1992.
