&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;JACOBI, Christian. (Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, Dec. 20, 1834--Dubuque, IA, Feb. 27, 1894). Arriving in the United States when he was seventeen, Jacobi lived in New York for two years and then moved directly to Dubuque. He was one of the incorporators of the [[DUBUQUE CABINET MAKERS&amp;#039; ASSOCIATION]] and worked there as a foreman for twenty years.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In 1890 with S. P. Wadley, he opened a retail furniture store at 653 Main. Wadley retired in 1892 and Jacobi continued the business.&lt;br /&gt;
