	Attending the University of Iowa, Herrig was one of only eight college players invited to participate in the Colorado Explosion (Pro Team) Camp. ~~She~~ later became the youngest player to be selected to the World University Team to travel to Italy and Sicily where she won a gold medal. (Photo Courtesy: Dubuque Community School District)		Attending the University of Iowa, Herrig starred from 1995 to 1999 being a part of three Big Ten championship teams and earning first-team all-Big Ten honors her senior year where she ranked second in the league with over twenty points per game and received All-American honorable mention. In 2021 Herrig continued to rank 21st in the Hawkeyes' program history with 1,319 career points, 11th in rebounds with 789, and 2nd in Iowa single-game records with 42 points and 25 rebounds both earned in her senior year. She was one of only eight college players invited to participate in the Colorado Explosion (Pro Team) Camp. Herrig later became the youngest player to be selected to the World University Team to travel to Italy and Sicily where she won a gold medal.

			Herrig was drafted by the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs, but was cut after her first season. She signed as a free agent with the Utah Starzz in 2000 and played three more seasons before retiring. In her final WNBA season, Herrig ranked ninth in the league with 2.1 blocks per game and 13th with 6.2 defensive rebounds per game.

			In 2002 Herrig became the first player from Dubuque to be inducted into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Basketball Hall of Fame.

			With a Master of Business Administration degree, Herrig moved to Chicago to work as a brand manager at Newell-Rubbermaid. Married, Herrig (now Amy Tanny) returned to Dubuque and in 2021 had just over fifteen years at [[COTTINGHAM AND BUTLER, INC.]] (2)
