New page

FORWARD, Charles Jesse. (London, England, May 1, 1861--Dubuque, IA, Dec. 11, 1925). Forward accompanied his parents to Canada where he lived until the age of twenty-one. Moving to St. Louis, he entered the brokerage business. He also took charge of the Meramec Mission Church.

In 1910 Forward and his family moved to Dubuque. A layman minister in the Baptist Church, he preached in St. Louis and Dubuque and reopened the West Hill Chapel in Dubuque and continued in charge of the church until his death.

Forward was one of the organizers of the Dubuque Real Estate Board and for years was a charter member of the organization. In connection with two other realtors, he platted and developed what became the Grandview Heights portion of the city. He was also licensed as a realtor in neighboring states.
