Fitzpatrick was the grandson of John Fitzpatrick who came to Dubuque in 1836 and later surveyed eastern Iowa from Clinton to Winona, Minnesota.		FITZPATRICK, Charles Edward. In 1908, Charles Fitzpatrick incorporated the C.E. Fitzpatrick Company, a wholesale and retail stationery and office equipment firm, in Dubuque. He later started the Fitzpatrick Company, a wholesaler of athletic equipment. He also became the business manager of the ''Dubuque Daily Times.''

	Fitzpatrick remained active in the management of both businesses until his retirement in 1923. While in Dubuque, he was especially interested in the city's playgrounds. In cooperation with Conrad Scherr and [[ADAMS, Eugene\|Eugene ADAMS]], Fitzpatrick was instrumental in established the municipal baseball park.
