(Cassiday) Chapman, Joseph Chapman was educated in Dubuque, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He advanced through various positions until he became vice president of the bank and later a director. In 1897 Chapman graduated from the law department of the University of Minnesota. Northwestern National Bank. He advanced through various positions until he became vice president of the bank and later a director. In 1897 he graduated from the law department of the University of Minnesota.

After his resignation from the Northwestern National Bank in 1919 he became associated with the L. S. Donaldson Company, one of the largest department stores in the Northwest, and served as its the vice president.

Mr. Chapman was a member also with the thirty-second degree Mason; Phi Delta Phi, a college fraternity; and is a member of the Minneapolis, Minikahda and Six O'Clock Clubs, having been president of the last named in 1906-7. He was a member of the Agricultural Development and Educational Committee of the State Bankers Association, of which he was president, and served on the executive committee of the American Bankers Association and chairman of its committee on agricultural development. From 1899 until 1906 he was the secretary of the Minnesota Bankers Association and was elected its president in 1908. He is a member of the American Institute of Bank Clerks and was the organizer and president of its first chapter. He was chairman of the citizens' pure water commission, which established a modern
filtration plant of Minneapolis. For nine years he was a member of the Board of Charities and Corrections and he acted as vice president of the Morris Plan Company, the bank organized to lend money to working people on small interest. He was one of the organizers and chairman of the finance committee of the New Nicollet Hotel and served as the vice president of the company.
