He joined the Navy and was on a destroyer headed to the Pacific when the war ended.

	Bogan returned to Chicago, Illinois and went to work for Greyhound, a company in which his father had a role in founding. In 1947 he drove one of the buses up the newly completed Alaska Highway to establish Greyhound service in Fairbanks, Alaska. He learned the investment business in the Chicago Offices of Dominick and Dominick and W.E. Hutton before becoming chairman of the Atlanta LaSalle Corp. Investment Group and becoming chairman and CEO of National Security Bank.		Bogan returned to Chicago, Illinois and went to work for Greyhound, a company in which his father had a role in founding. In 1947 he drove one of the buses up the newly completed Alaska Highway to establish Greyhound service in Fairbanks, Alaska. He learned the investment business in the Chicago Offices of Dominick and Dominick and W.E. Hutton before becoming chairman of the Atlanta LaSalle Corp. 	In the early 1960s, Bogan was a partner in a group that purchased the Milwaukee Braves – later the Atlanta Braves. Ralph, as team owner, was present in 1974 when Hank Aaron hit his 715th home run. In the early 1970s his skiing interest turned toward heli-skiing, in which skiers are lifted by helicopter to the start of fresh, untracked areas. He was a resident of Dubuque when he died.
