	BELL, Fred. (Dubuque, IA, 1863--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 10, 1942). At the time of his death, Bell was the president of the [[IOWA OIL COMPANY]]. Prior to this, he had been the secretary and treasurer of the [[BELL BROTHERS COMPANY]], a manufacturer of work clothing. At the time of his death, Bell was the president of the [[IOWA OIL COMPANY (IOCO)]]. Prior to this, he had been the secretary and treasurer of the [[BELL BROTHERS COMPANY]], a manufacturer of work clothing. (1)

			As a young man, Bell had been a member of a four-oar rowing crew that participated in a regatta on October 11th. (2) In 1890 he was a member of the award winning crews which returned to Dubuque to a festive parade from their showing at the Iowa State Amateur Rowing and Boating Association at Spirit Lake. (3) His interest in boats continued into 1910 when on March 19, 1910 Bell was elected "commodore" at the first meeting of those interested in forming the [[DUBUQUE MOTOR BOAT CLUB]]. (4)
